About me

First of all, thank you for taking the time to visit my website and for being here - curious to learn a little more about who I am and what Vita Lumen represents.

Vita Lumen was founded in 2014, the same year I held my first exhibition at the Turner Galleries in Perth. The name comes from Latin and translates to “light of life.” From the beginning, this idea was reflected not only in the work itself, but also in the way Vita Lumen is operated; all profits are donated to charities I choose. The first was The Smith Family, and many other worthy organisations have benefited since and will continue to do so.

Today, Vita Lumen can be seen as my interpretation of the light of life; a celebration of the beauty this world has to offer. Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me , and I find great joy in studying its finer details while also stepping back to appreciate the bigger picture.

And speaking of bigger pictures, Im currently developing a side project that leans more into our community - exploring ways we might recoognise the common ground we all share. I've piloted this idea through a photography workshop focused on self expression and an IG community page @vita_lumen_omnibus. All still in early stages but I'm excited to see where it leads.

A few other details feel worth mentioning. Since 2014, I’ve exhibited on a smaller scale at venues such as the Margaret River Artisan Store and Mr Barval. I was also commissioned to fit out the new Rottnest Discovery glamping tents with my images (they’re still there!) and I've continued to sell my work through galleries. My most recent exhibition was in 2023 at the Terrace Greenhouse Gallery in Fremantle. This show marked an expansion into textiles and included furniture pieces such as chairs, lamps, and a bedhead. It was an incredibly rewarding project , made possible with the help of some very talented people. Looking ahead, I plan to offer a selection of custom pieces through this website. If you choose to subscribe, you’ll be among the first to hear about them.

Thanks again for stopping by - and hopefully for staying in touch.
